From young years of age, Patrick was already a very passionate pigeon fancier.

First he started with ornamental pigeons, but very soon he was getting bored of them, Patrick wanted to compete races and very soon he was building a loft in he’s parents backyard. First he was starting with some short distance pigeons, and at that time Patrick could already compete with the better fanciers of the local area. After getting married to he’s wife Christine he was living in the Pontstreet for qiute a few years where he also raced the pigeons. More and more the avidity to race bigger races started to come. He’s neighbour who was also a pigeon fancier in that day’s was the owner of (in the eyes of patrick) a very special pigeon, it was a pigeon from Robert Willequet from Kluisbergen. Patrick was dreaming about a pigeon like this on he’s breeding loft and offerd the friendly neighbour some money for that pigeon. The neighbour agreed and this willequet pigeon was then the proud of the Houfflijn loft and was named the oude Willequet. Unfortunately this pigeon was not long firtile anymore so there where onley a few young pigeons breeded from him. Onley one son of him was going to the racers loft , that was in 1986, maybe the best move Patrick could ever do in he’s carriere because the pigeon was no other then ‘De Limoges 86-4220871’ who won in 1988 first provincial Limoges. That very same year patrick was having bigger plans with he’s pigeons, but he needed more space for more lofts, so he moved to the Waregemseweg he’s cured adres. 2200 sqaure meter of land in the middle of the woods, a dream for all fanciers... And the Limoges, he was coming along to earn a spot on the breeding loft and became the the forefather from all of the best current pigeons on the loft. Years went by and the racing was going very good with lots of good results on the races. But Patrick was not satisfied yet, he wanted more he’s hunger to become a national top loft was getting bigger and bigger, so Patrick decided to concentrade on the national races. Therefore there was need for some new blood on the lofts, some pigeons who would mach perfectly with the Willequet line. The decision was made very soon... Onley one name was playing around in Patrick’s head, that was the name of the superstar from Dentergem ‘Gaby Vandenabeele’ this where the pigeons that Patrick wanted in he’s loft. So thats what he did. The best you could find in dentergem was orderd now. Two cocks from ‘De Blauwe Fideel (93-068)’ 1 National Brive 1995, two hens from ‘De Ronker 91-052’) 1 National Limoges 1995 and first long distance Acepigeon 1994. And one hen of  ‘De Turbo (90-128) first long distance Acepigeon. Patrick started to crossbreed immediate with he’s old Willequet line and the Vandenabeele pigeons. With the well known succes. Now almost all the pigeons on the loft have as well the Limoges as the Vandenabeele blood in there veins. Onley a few years later Patrick could get he’s hands on some more formidable blood, that was the blood of the Gullit from Desmet-Mathijs. Also this move seems to be a big hit. ‘Red Barcelona 04-696’ 1 price Barcelona was a pigeon who was breed from a Brother to the Worldfamous Gullit, he’s mother was from the toplines of Etienne Devos from Deerlijk. That Red Barcelona is one of the ace breeders on the breeding loft now. In the earley 90’s also son Dimitri started to be intrested in the pigeonsport and became also a very passionate and most of all progressive pigeonfancier. But do to a bussy job and father to two little children Dimitri don’t get so much time for driving to the lofts every day so he Decided to build him self some lofts in he’s own home in anzegem under the name ‘Houfflijn-Goemaere’ every year the second round of Wortegem will move on this lofts in West Flanders with the goal of also making that loft one of the top lofts of Belgium under the supervision from the master Patrick.
